How can Reading Assistant Plus help my child

Reading Assistant is the perfect complement to Fast ForWord.

There are 3 steps to this program.

  1. Your child listens to a model reader.
  2. They read out loud and are recorded and corrected in their reading.
  3. They learn comprehension strategies such as; rationalisation, logic, deduction,  theme, visualization, cause and effect etc.

Reading Assistant Plus will improve their vocabulary and comprehension. Participants also increase their fluency (which is the bridge between decoding and comprehension)

Also, they practice and improve their pronunciation

GETTING STARTED ON THE PROGRAMME

Is there a test to determine the correct level for my child to start on the programme?

Yes we have a Pearson test built into our software

How much time does my child need to work on the programme.

Your child works on the Fast ForWord program for 30 minutes a day 5 days a week (No less than 3 times a week).  This can be done at school and/or at home.  Parents need to support their children actively.

How will my child progress through the programmes?

Your child works on two foundation modules which are followed by reading modules followed by Reading Assistant Plus.  We expect most children to complete two modules in three months. The program adapts to the student therefore everyone will progress at his or her own speed

The foundation modules focus on strengthening the cognitive skills of Memory, Attention, Processing and Sequencing (MAPS).

Your child up to and including 5th Grade (Year 6) will start on Foundations I  followed by Foundations II.

Your child in 6th Grade (Year 7) and above will start on Elements I followed by Elements II.

Later the reading modules focus on reading, reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Reading Assistant Plus focuses on vocabulary acquisition, fluency, and comprehension.

How do I know how my child is progressing?

We provide you with weekly Progress Tracker reports to allow you to monitor your child’s progress. These monitor attendance, participation, progress, mastery of skills, specific errors, and other measures.

We also are available on email, Zoom, and phone to answer your specific questions.

Also, we can provide you with a before and after tests to determine the gains your child has made in their language and reading skills.

How does my child take the Reading Progress Indicator (RPI) test?

The RPI Tests can be set up for your child.

The first time that they log on it will be presented to them for completion.

  1. Please ensure that they try their best and they take their time.
  2. If possible please supervise your child one to one from the beginning to the end of the test.
  3. Ask your child to read the test aloud.
  4. Do not help them in any way.  Once the test starts do not speak to your child unless they are rushing and not really trying.
  5. Do not repeat or read the instructions as they are part of the test.
  6. If your child does not have enough time to complete the test during the class period please exit the test and return later or another day.
  7. It usually takes about 45 minutes however it is not timed so if it takes longer or much longer that is okay.

If a student finishes the test in 10 or 15 minutes he hasn’t really tried.

How do I contact Joyce and the Neuron Learning Support Team

The quickest way to reach is to send an email to: admin@neuronlearning.com

We aim to reply to all questions within one business day.

Joyce and her team answer every question they receive by email,

We’ll often get back to you on the same day (and sometimes within an hour)!

It may feel like phone would be quicker, but here’s why we prefer email...

  • We can thoroughly research your issue and get back to you with a more complete answer… AND you can refer to it again if you need to.
  • It helps our customer service team figure out “Frequently Asked Questions” and ultimately helps us improve things as we see certain patterns happening.
  • We have several team members monitoring the help desk and can respond more quickly than we can via phone.
  • And the best part? No phone tag!

However, there’s still an option for you if you prefer speaking on the phone. Just call United Kingdom 0208 12345 58 International + 353 21 234 0203, Ireland 021 21 2340203  and leave a message with your name, contact number, email address, and question.

Just a note: we have a lot fewer people available to monitor the phones, so you may experience a bit of a delay in response if you prefer phone to email.

How can I ask Joyce a question?

Joyce and her team answer every question they receive by email.

Will Joyce speak to my child about the programme?

Joyce and her team liaise directly with parents and provide full support. She does not communicate directly with your child. This ensures all communications are clear and that you as the parent are fully informed of your child’s progress on the programme.,

Can I hire Joyce to tutor my child directly?

Sorry, Joyce does not tutor students directly either on-line or in-person.

Do I have lifetime access to the resources?

Great question! The programme is designed to be progressive. Each participant moves through the programme according to their individual needs.

You’ll have access to your version of the programme for the duration that you paid for.

And that way if you have it to refer to down the road. What might not be applicable now, might be just the piece later on.

Am I able to access all the modules at the same time so that we can go at our own pace?

To support clients who want more control over their experience, we have our Accelerated Path. This lets you get access to the next module in the sequence as soon as you complete the module you’re on (and pass the associated quiz). To learn more, visit the Learning Schedule page.

Can you guarantee that this will work?

As Joyce has mentioned, she cannot guarantee results because everyone is different and everyone brings a different set of skills and participation to their use of the programme. Neuron Learning does have a 14-day money-back guarantee to give you a chance to get a feel for the content, Joyce and our method.

Can I share my log-in and resources?

Goodness No! All Program licenses and Neuron Learning subscriptions are for one participant only. This will be strictly enforced and IP addresses will be monitored.

Each participant has their own unique pathway through the programme. Their personal data is used to adjust the programme according to that person’s individual needs and progress. This allows a more effective and efficient learning process.

Sharing the programmes will invalidate this completely and the teacher’s analysis and the programme’s artificial intelligence will be rendered useless.
